If you feel like exploring a non-touristy place, I recommend central Taiwan's Cingjing Farm and Hehuan Mountain. It's not that popular amongst foreigners but a lot of locals suggested visiting these places. It's really perfect for a quick weekend getaway. There are also a lot of activities to choose from in Cingjing and Mt. Hehuan. You can go camping, stargazing, sunrise watching, or even go to see the lambs and feed them. Just make sure to bring jackets that'll keep you warm. It gets a bit chilly up there, most especially during the wintertime when the mountain is covered with snow.
