今年的新春佳節，由於全球疫情並無減緩跡象，為不讓校內境外生過年期間身處異地而感孤寂，元智大學全球事務處準備元智福袋，由校長親自前往宿舍送給外籍生、陸生及僑生。截止至1091學期，元智大學本學期在臺就讀之在校境外生約600餘名。
元智大學校長吳志揚表示，今年因為疫情關係，學校不舉辦境外生過年團聚的活動，但特別贈送福袋予境外生，福袋內有泡麵、零嘴食物及賀卡，還有校內的緊急聯繫人等。不僅讓境外生人處異國不孤單，也讓他們體會華人新年春節的溫情暖意。
來自馬來西亞的境外生鄭揚龍表示，這讓他在寒冬中感受到溫暖，因為疫情大家在寒假和新年期間無法回家過年，收到學校的福袋，讓在異國的他們感受寒冬的溫暖與過年氣氛。
另外，春節期間為顧及學生安全，每份福袋也放有一份新年賀卡，並在卡片附上緊急聯絡方式及其相關資訊，好讓境外生在寒假或春節期間，若遇到緊急事故或其他重要事情，都可以隨時聯繫到校內值班人員、軍訓室值班教官、全球處職員以請求協助。
Lunar New Year approaching, due to the raising of the pandemic situation overseas students are not able to return to their hometown to reunite with families. The Global Affairs Office had prepared a New Year Gift-bag for each student so that they can feel the warmth of Yuan Ze’s big family.
Since the global epidemic shows no sign of slowing down. To prevent students who aren’t being able to return home from feeling left out, we as the Global Affairs Office of Yuan Ze University prepared New Year Gift-bags for overseas students. Specially invite the president to come to the dormitory to let out gift-bags to students before vacation.
As the semester of 1091, Yuan Ze University had around 600 foreign students studying with us. President Zhi-yang Wu said that due to the pandemic, the school canceled the New Year reunion activities substitute to giving out gift-bags for the students. The gift-bag contains instant noodles, snack foods, greeting cards, and emergency contact on campus during vacation.
The emergency contact information was attached within the bag, to take into account the safety of students during the spring festival. In matters, students can always contact the staff on duty in the school, the duty instructor of the military training room, and the staff of the global office for assistance.
